Building a computer versus Buy off the self

By

Which is better building or buying

Many people how have the time and the knowledge to build a computer them selves or know someone that can often cross the path when it is time to upgrade there computer, should they buy or build? both options have there advantages and disadvantages so it will come down to which is better for the individual.

Building

Building a computer may seem quite difficult but once you have read a few instruction guides it is really quite simple, but for the new comer the first time you try to build a computer you will be confused for the most part but that should not be a deterrent.

The pro's to building a computer are that you can customise it to your specific needs like if you are in to photography of photo editing you will need a high resolution screen to get the most accurate colour in your editing, a really good graphics card is another item you will need for heavy video editing/photo editing and playing on graphically intensive games like crysis, world of warcraft and many other like them. A fast processor is also something many people how build there own computers look for as it improves the overall running speed of the system significantly, with the quad core processors being the most popular at the moment.

Picking your own operating system is a plus when building a computer yourself because you are not lumbered with the os the manufacture has given you or the task of wiping the drive and installing a new one, you have the choice of window and any sku of linux which is very popular with people building server's. There is another operating system you could install on your computer but it is illegal mac os vis hackintosh, if you do this you have violated apple's user guide lines and will be sued you computer destroyed if you get found with the operating system running on a non-apple device.

When you are building a computer you have total control over how it runs the way it runs and you can improve on that by adding new and improved hardware like a larger capacity hard drive fast processor, another way of controlling your computer is in the motherboard bios you can over clock the CPU so it runs faster than the manufactures clocked speed if this is done you will have to add a better cooling system so the processor does not over heat and fry.

The cons of building a computer are is it really cost efficient for you because the parts the operating system and the time to build the thing will add up, for most people it is much simpler to walking in to a store pick out the computer they want and walk out a happy consumer plus big brands can afford to sell there products cheap because they mass produce where as build a computer you are only making one.

Do you really want to spend all that money on parts only just to use it for basic web surfing and remedial tasks? the problem is that most the power of a home built computer will go to waste if you are not playing graphically intensive game you cannot justify a three hundred pound graphic card, if all your time using on the computer is spent in the browser, editing a few pictures or writing a word document a low range desktop or laptop will be more than enough for that type of user.

Buying

Buying a computer pros. buying a computer from a computer store is probably what most consumers do, i mean it is the quickest way to get a computer that fits your needs and you have shop assistants there to help you make the right decision. it is cheaper to buy a computer from a retail store because the computers are manufactured in bulk so the manufacturer can afford to only make a small margin on each unit they sell, also the manufactures save money on the operating system through special discounts with microsoft so they don't have to pay the full eighty pounds for an OEM version of then operating system for each unit they make.

Buying a computer is the best way for people that are the most savy about technology but know there way round windows, buying also gives you the legal way of acquiring a computer with the mac os on because every apple computer is sold with the latest iteration of the operating system installed. so buying seem's to be the way to get a computer with windows, linux or mac os installed legally quicker and cheaper than building a computer you self.

Buying a computer cons, the technically savy will know which components to buy how to put the together and how to tweak them so they perform better which is why you can build a much more powerful computer than you can buy and some people will need that power so instead of having the top of the line desktop slowing you down you could have and over clocked eight core processor water cooled system with terabytes of storage!
